A sure sign of spring
on February 28, 2018.

Six large groups,
one after the other,
in long V formations,
7-800 geese in total–
honking, honking, honking.

Maybe they’ve heard
that the Arctic
is having a warm spell,
some days hitting high temps
35 or more degrees
above normal.

Maybe they
just can’t believe it
and decided
to check it out
for themselves.

I can believe it.
We have to,
so we can appreciate
how real,
how present,
how right-now
our climate emergency is,

And then take action
every day,
with others,
with the world,
for those born and unborn,
those depending on us.
