Early Morning Biking

Full bright yellow moon
In the southwestern sky,
Descending as the eastern sky
Lightens and explodes with
Yellow and orange color
As the bright sun bursts into view.

The sound of a gobbling wild turkey
As I turn off of Franklin Avenue
Into Branch Brook Park in Newark,
Cherry blossom heaven in April and May.

One of many Canada geese
Arches its neck backwards
As I pass a few feet away,
Ready to strike out
If I would veer towards it.

Many squirrels, robins, other geese, a rabbit,
Beautiful, full, dark pink, cherry blossoms
And fading yellow forsythias and daffodils
As the temperature rises,
And the spring moves toward summer.

I love early morning biking!
